The docuseries will be in partnership with 14 accredited mental health professionals and organizations around the world.

2021 Olympic Boxer Virginia Ginny, actress and producer Glenn Close, chef Rashad Armstead, Fuchs and mental health advocate and speaker Zak Williams and the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.
On Friday last week, Oprah made an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show alongside Dr Bruce D. Perry, a psychiatrist and the co-author of Oprah’s book, What Happened To You: Conversation on Trauma, Resilience and Healing.
During the show, she disclosed that after years of working on the series with Prince Harry, it would finally premiere this month.
“I want just to say that Dr Perry and I have also been, for the past two years, along with Prince Harry and Apple, been working on this mental health series that is coming out in May on Apple,” she said.
Apple confirmed through a press release that The Me You Can’t See documentary series would premiere on May Friday 21.
After it was shared, Oprah and Prince Harry wrote statements in regards to their docuseries.
“Now more than ever, there is an immediate need to replace the shame surrounding mental health with wisdom, compassion and honesty. Our series aims to spark that global conversation,” Oprah said in a statement.
“We are born into different lives, brought up in different environments and as a result are exposed to different experiences. But our shared experience is that we are all human,” Prince Harry said in a statement.
“The majority of us carry some form of unresolved trauma, loss or grief, which feels and is very personal. Yet the last year has shown us that we are all in this together, and my hope is that this series will show there is power in vulnerability, connection in empathy and strength in honesty,” added Harry.
How the documentary series came about
In an interview Oprah did with Gayle King on CBC in 2019, she explained how she and Prince Harry came to work together.
“I asked Prince Harry the Question, ‘What do you think are the most important issues facing the world right now?’ and he said, ‘There are two, climate change and mental wellness,”’ said Oprah.
At the end of their conversation, the 67-year-old told the royalty, ‘Oh, I’m going to be doing this thing with Apple. It is a big concern of mine too, and I want to try and erase the stigma,’ and to which Harry responded, “If there’s anything I can do to help, let me know.”
In April 2019, a statement was released by the Kensington Palace. “The multi-part documentary series will focus on both mental illness and mental wellness, inspiring viewers to have an honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces, and how to equip themselves with the tools to thrive, rather than to survive simply.”
The series is part of Prince Harry’s larger focus on mental health, both in supporting programs that assist with mental health concerns and in helping to reduce the stigma surrounding the issue.
“I truly believe that good mental health, mental fitness is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self. It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times,” Prince Harry while launching this initiative.
